VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is pleased to announce that it will be transferring its production of A (TOOTH) FAIRY TALE to off-Broadway’s SOHO PLAYHOUSE beginning Saturday, March 15th.  A (TOOTH) FAIRY TALE features music and lyrics by RICK HIP-FLORES, book by BEN WINTERS, and direction by LINDA KEYA (TOOTH) FAIRY TALE joins PINKALICIOUS, THE MUSICAL, currently running at New World Stages and THE TOP JOB, opening at The McGinn Cazale Theatre March 8th as productions VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is presenting at theatres around Manhattan this Spring. A (TOOTH) FAIRY TALE runs March 15th through May 25th performing Saturdays and Sundays at 12:00noon. All tickets are $25.00 and shows are appropriate for children ages 4 to 12. Collecting teeth and delivering quarters is tiring work, and The Tooth Fairy is ready for a vacation! Luckily, she meets a young boy named Samuel who is sick and tired of being a kid, and all the rules that go with it. But when Samuel and the Tooth Fairy arrange to switch places, nothing goes exactly as planned as adventures ensue across the Upper West Side of Manhattan and throughout New York City. A (TOOTH) FAIRY TALE is a wild, silly adventure filled with shiny quarters, sugary candy and learning who you're really meant to be.

Composer and lyric writer, RICK HIP-FLORES has written music and lyrics to NEON MIRAGE (Humana Festival, 2006), MY NEW YORK (Vital Theatre), DIDO AND AENEAS (Prospect Theater), and the COLUMBIA VARSITY SHOW. He has also composed scores for TARTUFFE and AS YOU LIKE IT (Worth Street Players).  As musical director, Rick was recently seen at the Zipper Theatre in JACQUES BREL IS ALIVE AND WELL…  Other New York and regional credits include PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, LAUGHWHORE (Broadway), SINGIN IN THE RAIN (North Shore Music Theatre), BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO (Actors’ Playhouse), SHAKESPEARE ON BROADWAY (Symphony Space), 8 BY TENN (Hartford Stage), HENRY AND MUDGE, and A CHRISTMAS CAROL (TheatreworksUSA).  Rick is a resident musical director for Musicals Tonight, where he interprets lesser known works by Porter and Kern.  Rick teaches theater composition at AMDA and is a member of the BMI Lehman Engel Workshop.


Book writer, BEN H. WINTERS is a librettist, lyricist and playwright whose work has been produced Off Broadway, Off Off Broadway, regionally and internationally. Past musical projects include SLUT, which ran Off Broadway in the fall of 2005 at the American Theater of Actors following a sold-out run at the 2003 New York International Fringe Festival;SPREAD THE WORD: THE STORY OF PAUL REVERE, currently touring the United States for TheatreWorksUSA; BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO, a musical comedy based around the songs of Neil Sedakaand FAME FOREVER, a sequel to the stage musical FAME.His plays include CIRCUS MUSIC, which Winters’ wrote and directed in productions in Chicago (1999) and Los Angeles (2001) and MARRY ME, MARY JO!  Which appeared at Manhattan 's Open Pulse Arts Lab in 1999. Winters' work as a journalist has appeared in numerous publications, including the Chicago Tribune, The Nation, In These Times, PerformInk, Stagebill, and Theatermania.com.  His first book, The Jewish Comedy Thesaurus, will be published by Quirk Books in 2008.

She is a proud lead partner in Vital’s newest enterprise – a brand new New York City public high school called Brooklyn Theatre Arts High School.

Featured in the cast are JARUSHA ARIEL, CHRIS BRACA, HOLLY BUCZEK, ALAN HOUSER, JOHN MAGALHAES, ABIGAIL TAYLOR, and KRISTINA TESCHNER. The production stage manager is KARA TEOLIS. The creative team includes DAX VALDES as choreographer and SIMON GRAY as music director. The design team includes sets by JACQELYN MAROLT, costumes by HUNTER KACZOROWSKI and lighting by REBECCA M. K. MAKUS.
