VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is pleased to announce the opening of its final show in the 2008-2009 season, THE TOP JOB, music by BRIAN FEINSTEIN, book and lyrics by ROBIN MOYER CHUNG, and direction by TAMARA FISCHTHE TOP JOB, adapted from the book by ELIZABETH CODY KIMMEL with illustrations by ROBERT NEUBECKER,  joins PINKALICIOUS, THE MUSICAL, currently running at New World Stages and A (TOOTH) FAIRY TALE, opening at The SoHo Playhouse in March as productions VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is presenting at theatres around Manhattan this Spring. THE TOP JOB runs March 8th through April 27th Saturdays and Sundays at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. There will be additional weekday performances April 22nd and April 24th at 1:00 pm. All tickets are $18.00 and shows are appropriate for children ages 3 to 11 years old. Post-show workshops, entitled THE LIGHT AT THE TOP, will be held on March 15th at 2pm, April 22nd at 2pm, and April 24th at 2:00 pm. Following the performance, workshop admission is an additional $20 per child and space is limited to 25 participants, appropriate for ages 6 and up. In THE TOP JOB it’s career day at school and after hearing that her classmates’ parents are UFO Hunters, Giant Noses, and Investment Bankers Jenna is afraid to tell her class about her father’s boring old job. After an adventure through New York City with her father and little brother, Jenna discovers that sometimes the simplest jobs are actually the most important!

Composer BRIAN FEINSTEIN is an award-winning composer based in New York City. He is the recent recipient of the 2007 Anna Sosenko Trust Award for musical theatre composing, which followed his 2006 Off-Broadway show MIMI LE DUCK starring Eartha Kitt. Credits include: the song “No Looking Back,” which debuted on  New Year's Eve with the Boston Pops Orchestra; the musical adaptation of Bertolt Brecht's CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE and the instrumental music for THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE , both produced by the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY; BY THE NUMBERS  for the ASCAP Musical Theatre and TRU Producing Workshops; DAPHNE & APOLLO for the Mondo publishing company; THE CIRCUS IS COMING TO TOWN  produced by Theatre West in Los Angeles; awarded "Best Children's Musical" in Southern California. Brian has received 3 ASCAP Plus Awards for songwriting and is a recipient of a Jonathan Larson Fellowship award and a member of the New Dramatists Composer Studio. He earned an MFA from the NYU Tisch School for Musical Theatre Writing and a BA from the USC’s School of Cinema. Brian is a proud member of The Dramatists Guild, ASCAP, and the Tri-State Basset Hound Rescue League.

Book writer and lyricist ROBIN MOYER CHUNG is currently at work on BIG FAT CAT, a new musical comedy written with Brian Feinstein, in December 2007; APOLLO AND DAPHNE, a children's musical also written with Brian Feinstein, commissioned by Mondo Publishing; BOULE DE SUIF, THE BIRTHMARK and THE DANCING MONKEYS. Her song, "I Can't Help But Fall In Love" is one of two original songs selected for the EFA/Broadway Cares album Broadway Romances Manhattan. She is an ASCAP member and graduate of Tisch/NYU Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program.


Director TAMARA FISCH’s recent credits include: LANGUAGE OF ANGELS, ARCADIA, JESUS HOPPED THE ‘A’ TRAIN, THE THREE BIRDS, AND BABY MAKES SEVEN, SAVAGE/LOVE, CUCUMBER PHIL and the World premiere of GIRLS’ SCHOOL GOTHICNew York: SPRING’S AWAKENING (Linhart Theatre), IF WISHES WERE HORSES (Ensemble Studio Theatre), HOMELAND SECURITY (EST), 11TH HOUR (EST), THE RED VARIATIONS (Looking Glass Lab), MATCH (Vital Theater Co.), A**HOLES (Vital), IKKE, IKKE, NYE, NYE, NYE; ABSTINENCE; WANDERING (Ohio Theatre) and various staged readings. Edinburgh: TELLING WILDE TALES (Int’l Fringe Festival), FOOL FOR LOVE (Bedlam Theatre).  She has assistant directed for Jon Jory, Jeremy Dobrish, Gene Saks, Victoria Pero, James Morgan, Aaron Posner and Marion McClinton (Broadway Revival, August Wilson’s MA RAINEY’S BLACK BOTTOM, and World Premiere, GEM OF THE OCEAN).  She holds a BA from Yale University, an MFA in directing from the University of Washington School of Drama, and is a Drama League Directing Fellow.

Featured in the cast are JULIE GOLDIN, ANDY LINDBERG, ROB MORRISON, MYCHAL PHILLIPS, RODERICK JUSTICE, TOM WALTZ, and NATALIE BIRD. The production stage manager is KARA TEOLIS, the music director is JAD BERNARDO and the choreographer is SABRINA JACOB. The design team includes sets by JESSE POLESHUCK,  costumes by BRITTANY JONES-PUGH and lighting by CHRISTINA WATANABE.

VITAL THEATRE COMPANY is located at 76th and Broadway commissions new musicals for children.   Since its founding in 1999, VITAL THEATRE COMPANY has been honored with two AWARDS FOR EXCELLENCE by the Off Off Broadway Review and received high acclaim from audiences and critics alike for being “a wonderful place for parents to introduce their kids to the glories of live theatre, done well and at modest prices.”  Now in its tenth season, the company is dedicated to producing entertaining and educational theatre for young audiences.
