Oheka Castle – A Mecca for Royalty

The Oheka Castle is a french-style château that sits on 442 acres of land and located at the highest point in Long Island. The 1920′s were the castle’s heyday; it was a mecca for royalty, heads of state and Hollywood stars. Today, Oheka still offers a famous guest list including, Charlie Chaplin, Bill Clinton, Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher.
The hotel, has 32 luxury guestrooms and suites, as well as a ballroom, library and formal gardens with eight reflecting pools. Guests can explore the Long Island wine country, unwind with an in-room massage or enjoy exclusive golf and tennis privileges at the Cold Spring Country Club.
When current owner, Gary Melius purchased the property in 1984 for $1.5 million, the property was dilapidated and falling apart. Today, 70 percent of the site has been restored. Future plans for Oheka included, an addition of a restaurant and spa.
Recently, The Oheka Castle has been transferred to servicer, C-III Asset Management LLC, according to a Citybizlist report, due to imminent default. C-III Asset Management LLC is a subsidiary of C-III Capital Partners, CEO Andrew Farkas.
